ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Artwork of Kaya Coulombier grows from her lifelong passion for drawing, painting, and visual arts. Although she studied at a children's art school in Slovakia early on, this journey was interrupted by a family loss. Her professional path first led through science and international work. Art remained at a constant presence in her private life, returning to the centre since 2014, when she began sketching one evening on a sailboat in Sweden.
Since then, she has used drawing and painting to observe and reflect on the world around her, relying on the healing power of beauty. In 2023, she left her previous career to pursue art full time. She completed her MFA in Painting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2025. Her current key projects in contemporary stylized realism are seascapes inspired by life on a sailing boat and portraits of beloved. She is interested in exploring further allegories and abstracted styles.
ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, I am passionate about capturing the beauty of the world through my paintings. I would like to believe that art and beauty have the healing power on all losses and wounds. As as reflection to the contemporary fast changing life, may paintings are also changing. Each piece shows my unique perspective, more and more by using abstraction, allegories, and imagination.
